A Guide to Fenway Park
Fenway Park, located at 4 Jersey Street in Boston, MA, is the oldest active Major League Baseball stadium. Opened in 1912, “America’s Most Beloved Ballpark" is a living museum of baseball history, famous for its unique architecture and quirky field dimensions. If going to a day game, the area behind home plate and down the 3rd base line will see shade first.
Getting to the Ballpark
- Public Transit (The T (Subway)Boston is a transit-oriented city, and driving to Fenway is generally discouraged due to heavy traffic and expensive parking. If you must drive, use apps like SpotHero to book in advance. The official lots are the 100 Clarendon St. Garage and the Prudential Center Garage, which offer discounted rates for fans who walk about 15 minutes to the park. A full list of suggested parking can be found on the Red Sox website.
- Green LineTake the B, C, or D branches to Kenmore Station. From there, follow the crowds left out of the station and across the David Ortiz bridge to the park. The D Branch also stops at Fenway Station, which is slightly closer to Gate E.
- Commuter RailThe Framingham/Worcester Line stops at Lansdowne Station (formerly Yawkey Station), located directly across the street from the Green Monster. If you’re not coming from the west you can also transfer from other commuter rail stations. From the south transfer to the Framingham commuter rail line at South Station. From the north transfer to the Green Line at North Station.
- Bus: SSeveral MBTA bus routes serve the area, including the 1, 8, 19, 47, 60, 65, and CT2.
- BikingFenway offers a free, supervised Bike Valet service at the corner of Lansdowne Street and Ipswich Street. Bluebike (Boston’s bike-share system) has numerous docking stations around the stadium including at Kenmore Square Jersey St at Boylston St and the Lansdowne T Stop.
- RideshareDesignated drop-off/pick-up points are located on Boylston Street and Brookline Avenue.

- Sweet CarolinePlayed in the middle of the 8th inning since 1997. The tradition began when a staffer played it for a friend who had a baby named Caroline; it is now the stadium's unofficial anthem.
Seating & Special Sections
Given it was built in 1912 Fenway has some unique seating challenges. The biggest issue are the obstructed views, particularly under the overhang in parts of the grandstand.
