A Guide to Daikin Park

Daikin Park is the retractable-roof home of the Houston Astros, situated in the heart of downtown Houston. Built into the historic 1911 Union Station, the stadium perfectly blends the city's rich railroad history with a modern baseball experience. Its most famous feature is the vintage locomotive that chugs along the left-field wall to celebrate every Astros home run.

Getting to the Ballpark

  • Driving and Parking
Daikin Park is located on the eastern edge of downtown near the nexus of I-10, I-45, and I-69 which runs right next to the stadium. There are three official lots (A, B, C) which are located south of the Home Plate Gate, between Preston and Texas streets.
    • Lots A and B
Are generally reserved for season ticket holders.
    • Diamond Lots
Sit directly adjacent to the stadium but are only accessible by purchasing a parking pass off of the secondary market from season and suite ticket holders.
    • Lot E
Sits north of the stadium near the Center Field Gate but tends to fill up quickly. You can pre-purchase parking through the team website or the MLB Ballpark App when you buy your game tickets.
    • Surface Lots/Garages
An additional 25,000 parking spots exist around downtown with varying prices. Generally, the further west you park (toward Main St.), the cheaper it gets.
    • Street Parking
Free on Sundays and after 6:00 PM on weekdays/Saturdays but be sure to check meters carefully to avoid event parking restrictions. Areas west of the stadium near Fannin, San Jacinto, or Caroline Streets are generally the best options.
  • Public Transit
    METRORail
    • The Green & Purple Lines
Both lines stop at the Convention District Station, which is right at the doorstep of the ballpark. The Green Line services the East End while the Purple covers parts of the East End as well as the Third Ward and University of Houston to the Southeast.
    • The Red Line
This is the main North-South artery of the city, running from Northline through Midtown, the Museum District, and the Medical Center down to NRG Park. The closest Red Line station stops at Preston Station about a 10 minute walk from the park, or you can transfer to the Green or Purple lines at Central Station, which is one stop from Preston.
    • Park & Ride
P & R stations are located at both the north and south terminus of the Red Line, as well as the Green Line’s Eastwood Transit Center with parking available for only a couple of dollars. Cheap or free parking may also be available in neighborhoods the Metro services with areas near Museum of Fine Arts, Coffee Plant/2nd Ward Station, McGowen Station, and Ensemble/HCC Stations being the most popular.
  • Rideshare
The pick up and drop off location is just outside the Center Field gate on Crawford Street between Preston Street and Congress Avenue.

Pregame Festivities

The stadium sits at the intersection of the Central Business District and the "EaDo" (East Downtown) entertainment district.
