A Guide to Tropicana Field
Tropicana Field, known as The Trop, has served as the home of the Tampa Bay Rays since their inaugural season in 1998. Located in the heart of St. Petersburg’s vibrant EDGE District, it is the only fixed-dome stadium remaining in Major League Baseball. Following the damage caused by Hurricane Milton in 2024 and a temporary stint at Steinbrenner Field in 2025, Tropicana Field reopened in 2026 with some modifications before a planned move in 2028.
Getting to the Ballpark
Tropicana is located just west of downtown St. Petersburg in the EDGE District. Because it is located on a peninsula, traffic can be heavy on the bridges coming from Tampa.
- Driving & ParkingThe stadium is located just off of both I-175 and I-275 which are the main routes to the stadium. It is surrounded by approximately 7,000 parking spaces and fans are encouraged to prepurchase their parking through the team website or MLB Ballpark app. Lot 1 is reserved for VIPs and suite holders while Lot 5 is a premium lot located closer to the stadium and slightly more expensive. Lot 3 is reserved for prepaid parking only while the other lots are available for both prepaid and gameday drive up. Lots 2 and 3 are the closest for fans sitting on the 3rd base/right field side while Lots 6, 7, and 8 are best for center and right field. Tailgating is allowed in the parking lots but open flames and grills are prohibited.

- RideshareThe drop off location for rideshare services is just outside of Gate 4 near home plate, while the pick up location is in Lot 8, east of the stadium between 2nd and 3rd Avenue South.
- CyclingTropicana Field is located directly on the Pinellas Trail, a 45-mile scenic bike loop. There are bicycle racks located outside Gates 1, 5, and 6, and a Coast Bike Share hub is at the corner of Pinellas Trail and 8th St S.
