Doyt L. Perry Stadium
A Guide to Doyt L. Perry Stadium
Doyt L. Perry Stadium—“The Doyt” to Bowling Green fans—is a compact 24,000-seat MAC football ground beside Interstate 75. Broad sideline stands frame the field, the Sebo Athletic Center closes one end and the open south side looks across the athletics district. Falcon Tailgate Park, the BG Warrior Walk and the band’s PreFlight performance give this accessible Ohio road trip an easy rhythm and a traditional college atmosphere.
Getting to Doyt L. Perry Stadium
The stadium is on the east edge of campus, north of East Wooster Street and beside the Stroh Center, Slater Family Ice Arena and Perry Field House. Its highway visibility is excellent, but game-day access is routed through designated entrances.
Driving & Parking
- From I-75Use Exit 181 and turn west on East Wooster Street. Move into the lane indicated for public football parking rather than making an unsignaled turn toward the stadium.
- From the Ohio TurnpikeExit at Perrysburg, take I-75 south and use Exit 181. Travelers from U.S. 6 can connect through State Route 25 and approach from the west.
- Public lotsBowling Green lists Lots 10, 13, 18, 20 and 24 as public inventory around the Ice Arena, Perry Field House, Stroh Center and south athletics area.
- PriceThe 2025 A-to-Z guide published $12 prepaid and $15 on game day. The venue is cashless, so purchase online or use a card; confirm current pricing before departure.
- Traffic routingPublic traffic enters through Alumni Drive from Mercer. Falcon Club and media credentials use Stadium Drive from Mercer. Follow the lot-specific map even if navigation recommends a shorter turn.
- Accessible parkingLot AA north of the stadium serves accessible guests while spaces last. Accessible seating is in Sections 9, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 18.
- RV parkingOvernight RV space must be arranged in advance in Lot 24. Prices vary by game, and ordinary vehicle parking does not authorize an overnight stay.
- Opening windowParking lots open four hours before kickoff. Stadium gates open 90 minutes before the game; ticket windows and will call open at least three hours before kickoff.
Public Transit
- BGSU shuttlesThe regular Orange Main loop serves Perry Field House, central campus and downtown at published times, but ordinary Saturday service begins late at night. Do not assume it is a football shuttle unless BGSU announces special game service.
- Homecoming cartsBGSU has offered free roaming golf carts during Homecoming, but postgame availability is limited. Treat this as a special-event accommodation, not a season-long transportation plan.
- Downtown walkMain Street restaurants are about 1.5 miles from the stadium. The route along Wooster is manageable in good weather, but the highway interchange and outbound traffic make a central-campus approach more pleasant.
- Bike accessBowling Green is flat and bicycle-friendly, but bicycles cannot enter the stadium. Lock up outside the controlled perimeter and keep clear of tailgate lanes.
Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)
- Arrival pointUse the Stroh Center or a central-campus landmark rather than asking a driver to enter a permit lot beside the stadium.
- Avoid Mercer at peak timeMercer carries both public and credential traffic. A drop on Wooster or farther west on campus can be faster than joining the final parking queue.
- Postgame strategyWalk toward the Stroh Center or Bowen-Thompson Student Union before requesting a car. Stadium Drive and Alumni Drive remain committed to lot egress.
- Confirm the exact side“Stroh Center south of the stadium” is more useful than a generic Doyt pin. Follow any special rideshare point on the matchup page.
Pregame Festivities
The principal public gathering is Falcon Football Tailgate Park south of the stadium. The 2025 timeline opened it four hours before kickoff, followed by the BG Warrior Walk, band performance and general stadium entry.
Tailgating
- Falcon Tailgate ParkThe official public area features food trucks, sponsor activities, music and game-specific entertainment. Major dates may add a concert or alumni program.
- Four-hour lotsEvery football parking lot opens four hours before the game and permits tailgating. Keep the setup within the assigned area and preserve vehicle lanes.
- Ziggy ZoneOn selected games, BGSU stages a student-only south-entrance tailgate with a DJ, inflatables and games. Visitors should use Tailgate Park unless explicitly admitted.
- Alcohol and grillsState law and university rules apply. Kegs and party balls are prohibited, and tailgaters must extinguish and dispose of charcoal safely.
- Green Game DayBGSU distributes green recycling bags in tailgate areas and asks fans to separate cans and bottles. Use the marked receptacles inside as well.
- Cashless planningParking, tickets and stadium concessions are cashless. Bring a card or mobile wallet even if a private tailgate does not require a purchase.
- WeatherThe open south end exposes the complex to wind. Secure canopies and pack orange-and-brown layers for late-season night games.
Pregame Bars & Restaurants
- At 440 East Court Street, this local institution is famous for cheese-filled stuffed breadsticks and has served the college community since 1978. Order ahead on a busy football Saturday.
- At 104 South Main Street, Easystreet serves burgers, sandwiches, French onion soup, hand-cut onion rings and drinks in a downtown setting.
- At 163 South Main Street, Beckett's offers burgers, pub plates and a full bar. It opens at 11 a.m. on Saturdays and works well before an afternoon or evening kick.
- At 139 South Main Street, Juniper combines coffee, lunch and dinner with beer brewed on site, making it flexible for either an early arrival or postgame stop.
- Tailgate Park food trucksRotating trucks are the simplest last-hour meal because they sit near the south entrance and avoid another parking move.
Gameday Traditions
- BG Warrior WalkThe team arrival takes place roughly two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff on the published timeline. Fans line the route near Tailgate Park and the south stadium approach.
- PreFlightThe Falcon Marching Band performs at the Tailgate Park stage about 75 minutes before kickoff, then moves inside for its on-field pregame show.
- “Ay Ziggy Zoomba”Gilbert Fox wrote Bowling Green's distinctive spirit song in the late 1940s. The zigzag chant is the sound most closely tied to Falcon athletics; follow the band and regulars through the rapid words.
- Freddie and Frieda FalconThe mascot pair appears throughout the pregame and stadium. Their identities remain secret until an annual reveal, and both wear signature orange high-top shoes.
- SICSICSix masked members of the secret spirit organization spread “SIC SIC SEZ” signs and energy across campus and athletic events. Their identities are disclosed only at the end of their service.
- Talons UpRaise the Falcon hand gesture when the team enters and during crowd prompts. Orange is the dominant visitor-friendly color, with brown as the historic partner.
- 2026 band locationThe Falcon Marching Band moves to a new in-stadium seating area for the 2026 season to project more directly toward both sidelines. Older seating diagrams may not show the change.
Monuments & Features

- The Doyt identityThe stadium honors Doyt Perry, whose teams won five MAC titles and the 1959 small-college national championship before he became athletic director.
- Open endsUnlike a fully enclosed bowl, the dominant east and west stands leave long views beyond both end zones. The arrangement makes the venue feel intimate even with a modest crowd.
- College GameDay historyBowling Green remains the only MAC stadium campus to have hosted ESPN College GameDay, which visited during the 2003 season.
- South video boardThe high-definition display faces the main stands and anchors replays and the team entrance presentation.

Seating & Sections
Odd-numbered sections occupy the west side and even-numbered sections the east. The student block begins on the east, while club inventory sits atop the west-side environment.

Concessions
AVI Food Systems operates permanent stands on both main concourses. The venue is cashless, and alcohol is sold inside but cannot cross the gates.
