A Guide to Brooks Stadium
Brooks Stadium is a compact, colorful home for Coastal Carolina football in Conway, just inland from Myrtle Beach. The roughly 20,000-seat bowl wraps tightly around Benton Field’s teal “Surf Turf,” where black end zones, palms and a loud student section make the venue instantly recognizable. Teal Town, Chant Walk and a close-to-the-field layout give Chanticleers game day a personality far larger than the footprint.
Getting to Brooks Stadium
Brooks Stadium sits inside the TD Bank Sports Complex near US 501 and SC 544. University Boulevard is the principal entrance from US 501, while Founders Drive serves SC 544. Closures can begin several hours before kickoff, so follow the parking-pass route.
Driving & Parking
- From Myrtle BeachUS 501 runs toward Conway and campus. Beach, outlet and game traffic share the corridor, so add a generous cushion.
- From SC 544Use Founders Drive when the traffic plan allows it. Controlled intersections can prevent unapproved shortcuts.
- Pass-required lotsCoastal sold out its 2025 season parking inventory, and the close athletics lots required advance credentials. A game ticket does not include a parking space unless the package specifically says so.
- Accessible Lot DDDThe latest season plan placed first-come ADA parking in Lot DDD across US 501 for vehicles displaying a valid state plate or placard. A dedicated accessible shuttle connected the lot with Gate 4.
- Remote areas and shuttlesCurrent routes have served Horry-Georgetown Technical College, campus locations near the Student Union and Lot YY off SC 544. Use the game-specific map because the free/paid designation and exact vehicle entrance can change.
- Postgame releaseLots empty through police-controlled corridors. Expect a slow first few miles, particularly when US 501 remains busy.
Public Transit
- CCU football shuttlesThe university's game-day network is the practical public transportation. Recent routes have linked HGTC, the Student Union and Lot YY with the Chauncey statue/TD Bank Sports Complex area.
- ADA shuttleAccessible buses run between Lot DDD and Gate 4. All listed football shuttles are accessible, but guests needing a specific accommodation should confirm timing with athletics before arrival.
- No rail connectionThere is no stadium rail or dependable football express from Myrtle Beach. Arrange a car, charter or rideshare.
Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)
- Confirm the current zoneThe latest dedicated location published by Coastal placed rideshare in the Chauncey statue loop off Chanticleer Drive West. Because the redesigned Chant Walk and multiple shuttle routes now use the same complex, verify the 2026 game map before selecting that pin.
- Arrive before Chant WalkTeam, band and pedestrian activity intensify about two and a half hours before kickoff. A drop at least three hours early reduces the chance of meeting a closure.
- Postgame alternativeIf the official loop is suspended during vehicle release, walk only to a staffed outer-campus pickup point named in the day's plan. Do not ask a driver to stop on US 501 or SC 544.
- Beach-distance pricingA ride from Myrtle Beach is substantial and demand climbs after the game. Reserve when available and consider waiting for the first surge to pass.
Pregame Festivities
Coastal's official pregame sequence is easy to follow: parking lots open, Teal Town activates near Gate 1, and the Chant Walk begins at the bronze Chauncey statue. For a typical evening kickoff, Teal Town has opened about three hours before the game, Chant Walk about two and a half hours before and gates 90 minutes before. Always use the week's published timeline.
Tailgating
- Teal TownThe official fan festival occupies Mullen-Wylie Plaza near Gate 1 with music, games, sponsor activities, Chauncey and the spirit squads. It is the simplest all-ages starting point for a first visit.
- Chant WalkPlayers gather at the Chauncey statue in front of the TD Bank Sports Complex and proceed toward Brooks Stadium. Arrive before the posted time because the redesigned route and crowd barriers limit last-second crossings.
- Permit-lot tailgatesClose lots fill with teal tents and beach-themed décor. Set up in front of or behind the vehicle, or on an approved adjacent green strip.
- Gas grills onlyCoastal allows gas grills while prohibiting charcoal. Glass containers are also prohibited, and all flames, fuel and hot equipment must be handled within the published safety rules.
- Heat planEarly-season Conway games are hot and humid even at night. Bring water, sunscreen and shade, and stop drinking well before heat symptoms become obvious.
Pregame Bars & Restaurants
- At 1125 Third Avenue, this downtown pub offers 20 rotating taps and game-day food. Drive or rideshare to campus afterward.
- Bonfire – A Smokin' TaqueriaThe riverfront restaurant at 110 Main Street combines barbecue, tacos and local beer in a relaxed setting.
- Located at 316 Laurel Street, this farm-to-table restaurant emphasizes steaks, seafood and regional ingredients. Choose it for a more polished Friday dinner or a slower postgame meal.
- Downtown ConwayThe riverwalk and compact historic core offer an appealing alternative to fighting the immediate postgame queue. The district is roughly four to five miles from campus and requires transportation.
Gameday Traditions
- Chant WalkThe team procession from the Chauncey statue is the essential pregame event, combining players, band, spirit squads and fans roughly two and a half hours before kickoff.
- Teal everywhereCoastal's signature color covers the field and crowd. Designated Teal Out, Black Out and White Out games deepen the visual effect, so check the 2026 promotional schedule before choosing an outfit.
- Chauncey the ChanticleerThe mascot derives from Chaucer's *Canterbury Tales*. Pronounce the name “SHON-ti-clear”; teams are the “Chants.”
- Victory BellCoastal's bell tradition dates to 2010 and gives home victories a literal campus soundtrack. Listen for it after the celebration rather than rushing immediately to the parking lot.
- Lighting and fireworksThe upgraded system supports entrance effects, fire towers and pyrotechnics. Selected night games have also used a mobile-app-synchronized phone light show.
- ChantourageThe student section near Adkins Field House supplies the most concentrated standing, gestures and noise. Visiting supporters should expect a spirited rather than neutral end of the bowl.
Monuments & Features
- Surf TurfCoastal installed the nation's first teal football playing surface in 2015. The 2025 refresh added black end zones, sharpening one of college football's most recognizable television images.
- Chauncey statueThe bronze mascot in front of the TD Bank Sports Complex anchors both the shuttle arrival point and Chant Walk. It is the natural first-visit photo stop.
- Open south endField-level Sun Cruiser Cabanas and the South Atlantic Bank Party Zone occupy the south-end experience, keeping the teal field visually open while adding social seating.
- Adkins Field HouseThe north-end football building frames the student end and helps make the otherwise open, low-rise bowl feel enclosed.
- Compact scaleBrooks grew from 6,408 seats to approximately 20,000 while retaining its close-to-the-field feel.

Seating & Sections
Sideline grandstands form the bowl, Adkins Field House closes the north and premium areas occupy the south. Recommended gates divide traffic by section, so confirm the section before joining a line.
- East lower sections 100–109These press-box-side seats sit close to the field. Current guidance routes 100–104 mainly through Gate 4 and 105–108 through Gate 2.
- East upper 200 levelElevated seats offer the cleanest full-field look. Recent entry guidance sends much of 203–208 through Gate 3, with adjoining blocks divided between Gates 2 and 4.
- West lower sections 120–128These face the east side and use Gates 6 and 7 under the current plan. Afternoon sun and early-season heat should influence seat choice.
- Chantourage student sectionStudents generally enter through Gates 1 and 2 and gather near the north end in front of Adkins Field House. It is the loudest, most active location and not the place for a neutral, seated experience.
- West premium hospitalityThe upper west suite and outdoor club can serve roughly 300 to 350 guests. Ticket benefits vary by product and should be verified at purchase.
- South-end premium areasThe Sun Cruiser Cabanas and South Atlantic Bank Party Zone are field-level, all-inclusive social products that have included parking. Sightlines are lower and more communal than a conventional reserved seat.
- Accessible seatingWheelchair and companion locations are distributed through the venue, with accessible shuttles using Gate 4. Arrange the seat and parking accommodation together.
Concessions
Coastal introduced free designated core concessions for eligible ticket holders in 2025. Use less-busy stands and avoid the halftime rush.
- Free core itemsHot dogs, nachos, popcorn and fountain drinks are included at participating stands. Guests have been limited to four items per visit but may make unlimited visits.
- Ticket eligibilityAccess requires the digital voucher or free-concessions icon associated with the ticket in the Coastal Carolina mobile app. Load it before approaching the scanner.
- Paid specialtiesPremium dishes, third-party vendors and alcohol are not included. Carry a card or mobile wallet even if the group plans to eat only core items.
- East and west standsFull-service concessions operate on both sidelines. Choose the side closest to the seat.
- Alcohol salesGuests may purchase no more than two alcoholic beverages per transaction. A valid horizontal photo ID is required under the published policy; free fountain drinks do not change alcohol controls.
- Premium serviceSouth-end cabanas and the party zone advertise all-inclusive food and beverage. Confirm whether alcohol and gratuity are included in the specific package.
