A Guide to Joe Aillet Stadium

Joe Aillet Stadium turns a Louisiana Tech football Saturday in Ruston into something bigger than its 28,562 seats. Long grandstands keep fans close to Origin Bank Field, the Davison Athletics Complex closes one end and a giant video board anchors the other. Bulldog Village, Hideaway Park, the Walk of Pride and a downtown trolley create an easy, familiar game day at the venue everyone simply calls “The Joe.”

Getting to Joe Aillet Stadium

The stadium is at 1450 West Alabama Avenue, Ruston, LA 71270, on Louisiana Tech's athletics campus west of the main academic core. I-20 provides the regional approach; Tech Drive, West California Avenue and West Alabama Avenue feed the university district.

Driving & Parking

  • From I-20
Exit toward Tech Drive or Cooktown Road, then follow event officers and the current parking map. Normal navigation routes can encounter temporary one-way controls around Stadium Drive.
  • Permit lots
Donor and reserved areas closest to the west, east and south sides require the correct hangtag or digital credential. Enter only from the route assigned to the lot color.
  • Free parking
Louisiana Tech's parking map provides free inventory north of the stadium, while Tailgate Lots A, B and C support free tailgating. Arrive early for the best unreserved space.
  • Accessible parking
Use the designated ADA inventory shown on the current football map and display the state-issued placard or plate. Fan and ADA golf-cart shuttles operate around the stadium; confirm the game-specific service window.
  • Walk of Pride closure
The red-lot entrance road closes temporarily around the team walk, approximately two and a half hours before kickoff. Be parked before the crowd lines the route.
  • Will Call
The west ticket office sits between Gates 2 and 3. Download mobile tickets before arrival and use the east office only when that game's timeline confirms it is open.

Public Transit

  • Tech Trolley
The free City of Ruston shuttle runs from downtown to Joe Aillet Stadium on home Saturdays. The published 2026 service begins 90 minutes before kickoff and continues until one hour after the game.
  • Downtown pickup
Use the marked stop in the Railroad Park/downtown district and confirm the exact location on the event listing. This lets visitors eat downtown without moving a car into stadium traffic.
  • Stadium shuttles
Louisiana Tech may add parking and accessibility carts shortly before kickoff. These are local circulators rather than an all-day city transit network.
  • No regional rail
Ruston does not have passenger rail service to the venue. Visitors arriving from Shreveport, Monroe or farther away should plan to drive or arrange a car service.

Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)

  • Use the athletics-campus edge
Set a pickup near the Thomas Assembly Center or another legal curb outside the donor-lot controls, then walk to the stadium.
  • Avoid the team-walk route
A pin beside Bulldog Village can strand a driver during the Walk of Pride closure. Follow officer instructions even if the app suggests a shorter turn.
  • Postgame plan
Walk away from Stadium Drive before requesting a car, or take the Tech Trolley downtown and call from there. Ruston's driver supply is limited, so allow extra time after night games.
  • Confirm construction routing
Until the north-end success center formally opens, use the current map rather than selecting the video board or north plaza as a meeting point.

Pregame Festivities

Bulldog Village is the center of a Louisiana Tech Saturday. It combines corporate and reserved tailgates with open fan activity under the trees near Argent Pavilion. The student energy sits nearby at Hideaway Park, and the Walk of Pride ties the areas together before everyone heads to The Joe.

Tailgating

  • Bulldog Village
The main gathering zone beside the stadium features sponsor tents, organized tailgates and the most direct access to the team walk.
  • Argent Pavilion
The covered landmark beside Bulldog Village hosts alumni and LTAC functions. Access or included food depends on the event and membership credential.
  • Free Tailgate Lots A, B and C
These lots give unreserved fans a place to build a conventional setup without purchasing a premium tailgate. Spaces remain subject to the game map and capacity.
  • Hideaway Park
Students tailgate across from the gravel lot and Tailgate Lot A. The park's trees, pond and open ground create a looser atmosphere than the donor areas.
  • Reserved tailgating and RVs
Purchasable spaces near Bulldog Village and designated RV parking support larger groups and weekend stays. Reserve through Louisiana Tech rather than occupying an unassigned area.
  • Basic rules
Keep tents, grills and games out of travel lanes; secure equipment before entry; dispose of coals properly; and do not operate drones anywhere in the stadium parking system.

Pregame Bars & Restaurants

  • At 109 East Park Avenue, this Louisiana Tech-alumni-owned downtown favorite serves crawfish étouffée, stuffed catfish, po'boys and other Cajun specialties in a casual room.
  • Sundown Tavern
Next door at 111 East Park Avenue, Sundown offers burgers, sandwiches, fried green beans, drinks and a broad patio. It is a strong postgame stop because the kitchen has a late menu.
  • At 206 North Vienna Street, Ruston's microbrewery pairs house beer with brick-oven pizza and an outdoor patio. Finish in time to catch the trolley.
  • Dawg House Sports Grill
The aptly named bar at 102 North Homer Street serves burgers, sandwiches and Tex-Mex with televisions, pool and darts. The business listing advises that it is cash-only.

Gameday Traditions

  • Bulldog Walk of Pride
About two and a half hours before kickoff, fans line the road between Argent Pavilion and Bulldog Village to welcome the team. Arrive before the temporary road closure.
  • Band of Pride
Louisiana Tech's marching band leads the soundscape outside and performs the fight song and pregame show inside. The Walk of Pride tradition itself began with the band's support.
  • Spirit of '88
Every Bulldog touches the bronze statue inside the Davison Athletics Complex before entering the field. It honors the undersized 1988 team that endured a brutal transition schedule while helping Tech move to Division I-A.
  • Fire bell
A historic bell rings to call the Bulldogs into battle. Its symbolism reaches back to the 1899 story of a bulldog that alerted two students to a house fire before dying in the blaze.
  • Bark Circle
About 30 minutes before kickoff, players form a moving circle in the south end and converge with a “Like a big dog—aroof!” chant. Be seated early to see it.

Monuments & Features

  • A.L. and Sarah Williams Champions Plaza
The northeast plaza displays life-size statues of Terry Bradshaw, Fred Dean, Willie Roaf, Karl Malone, Kim Mulkey and Teresa Weatherspoon—six Tech legends in two Hall of Fame sports.
  • Richardson Family Legacy Plaza
Opened at the southwest corner in November 2025, this plaza honors championship coaches Joe Aillet and Maxie Lambright with bronze statues.
  • Davison Athletics Complex
The glass-fronted south building houses football operations and the 302-seat premium club while providing the Bulldogs' field entrance.
  • Origin Bank Field
The Hellas Pivot 1.5 surface debuted in 2025. The field carries the sponsor identity, but the stadium remains Joe Aillet Stadium.
  • North video board
The 2024 display and custom audio system replaced “Dawgzilla”; a south-end ribbon board across Davison complements it.

Seating & Sections

The west side holds the home bench, press box, suites and central chairbacks; the east side supplies a traditional visitor-facing grandstand; Davison encloses the south; and the video board and developing success-center area frame the north.

  • West midfield
Central west sections provide the best conventional sightline and easiest access to the principal ticket office, press-box side and chairback inventory.
  • East grandstand
East sections offer a clean view of the home sideline and Davison façade. They are exposed to afternoon sun and use their own concessions and entry sequence.
  • Accessible seating
Wheelchair and companion inventory is in Sections B and I on the west and Section O on the east. Purchase through the ticket office in advance.
  • Davison Club
The south-end club offers indoor dining and outdoor seating for 302 guests with a head-on view up the field. Access is premium-ticket controlled.
  • West suites
Thirteen rentable suites plus the Presidential Suite sit in the 2017 press-box tower with climate-controlled hospitality and elevated sideline views.
  • Student seating
Students create the loudest standing environment and should claim required mobile tickets before game day; a student ID alone should not be treated as a general ticket.

Concessions

Concourse stands open with the gates 90 minutes before kickoff. Louisiana Tech has aligned the core east- and west-side food offerings, reducing the need to cross the stadium for basics.

  • Core menu
Burgers, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, peanuts, pickles, candy, bottled water and fountain drinks form the standard selection.
  • Chick-fil-A
Stadium stands have offered chicken sandwiches and combo packages. Availability and prices can change by season.
  • Wings stand
Plain, barbecue and Buffalo wings provide a more substantial alternative to the standard grill line.
  • Taco service
Tacos, quesadillas and nachos have appeared at a specialty truck or stand. Check the active concourse map for its side.
  • Water bottles
One empty clear commercial plastic bottle may enter and be filled inside. Frozen bottles and other outside beverages are prohibited.
  • Bulldog Village bookstore
A cashless game-day merchandise kiosk operates outside before kickoff; stadium retail and the campus bookstore provide additional Tech gear.

Bag Policy

  • Clear plastic, vinyl or PVC bags may not exceed 12 by 6 by 12 inches.
  • A one-gallon clear plastic freezer bag is permitted.
  • One small clutch, with or without a strap, may not exceed 4.5 by 6.5 inches.
  • Medically necessary items receive an exception after inspection. Baby bottles are permitted when the infant is present.
  • Larger purses, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, luggage, coolers, computer bags and camera bags are prohibited.
  • Seat cushions and chairbacks must be no wider than 18 inches and may not have pockets, zippers, compartments or covers.
  • Outside food and drink, cans, glass, coolers, weapons, artificial noisemakers, drones and umbrellas are prohibited. An empty clear commercial water bottle is the published bottle exception.
  • Gates open 90 minutes before kickoff. Tickets are scanned electronically and cannot be reused; reentry is not allowed unless an event-specific notice expressly says otherwise.
