A Guide to MetLife Stadium

MetLife Stadium, located is an open air sports and entertainment venue situated within the Meadowlands Sports Complex. As the shared home of both the New York Giants and the New York Jets, this facility stands as a central hub for professional football in the New York metropolitan area.

Getting to the Stadium

Driving & Parking

  • Driving
    It is accessible from the New Jersey Turnpike and Route 3. Traffic is heavy before and after NFL games, so drivers should plan for delays starting four hours before kickoff. From New York City take the Lincoln Tunnel to Route 3 West, which leads directly to the stadium. Alternatively, take the George Washington Bridge to the New Jersey Turnpike South. From Philadelphia and points south take the New Jersey Turnpike North to Exit 16W. This exit provides direct access to the sports complex lots.
  • Parking
    Significant parking surrounds the stadium with over 25,000 spaces across 14 lots. The inner ring of lots (E, F, G, and S) are Premium Platinum lots reserved for suite and club ticket holders. The outer Gold lots are for general fans though parking must be pre-purchased through the team. Tailgating is prohibited in the parking garages to the east of the stadium. For tailgaters looking to stock up beforehand, ShopRite of Lyndhurst is a solid option nearby, and Wine Outlet in Secaucus is the closest liquor store to the stadium. METRO WINE & LIQUORS is another option for those coming from West of the stadium. Mason's Cellar is a great option for those looking for higher end wine and beer.

Public Transit

  • Meadowlands Rail Line
    From New York take any NJ TRANSIT train from Penn Station to Secaucus Junction (first stop), then transfer to the Meadowlands bound shuttle train to Meadowlands Station, which is steps from the stadium entrance. Fans coming from New Jersey also have to transfer to the Meadowlands train at Secaucus Junction. None of the lines coming from the north stop at the stadium.
  • Hoboken Direct
    Limited direct train service is available from Hoboken Terminal for most gamedays
  • Coach USA 351 Meadowlands Express Bus
    Coach USA provides non stop, round trip bus service directly from Manhattan to the stadium for NFL games. Buses depart from the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Midtown Manhattan. Service starts two and a half hours before kickoff and runs continuously until 30 minutes after the game begins. Return buses operate for approximately one hour after the game ends. An additional pickup location is available at the George Washington Bridge terminal via Rockland Coaches Gate 4.

Rideshare

  • The dedicated rideshare zone is in Lot E southeast of the stadium, just outside the Verizon Gate

Pregame Festivities

The immediate stadium area is dominated by the Meadowlands Sports Complex, with limited walkable pregame options directly adjacent. However, the newly expanded American Dream mega entertainment and shopping complex sits directly across from the stadium and offers numerous dining options. A short drive to Secaucus, Lyndhurst, and East Rutherford yields solid local bars and restaurants.

Pregame Bars & Restaurants

  • A Colonial era farmhouse gastropub in nearby Clifton offering seasonal comfort food with expertly crafted cocktails. Their weekend brunch is popular, and the laid back American farmhouse aesthetic makes it a great pregame spot for fans coming from the north.
  • A friendly local bar in Secaucus,. This longtime neighborhood spot has been serving the community for decades and offers a classic sports bar atmosphere with reasonable prices.
    • A self service, pour-by-the-ounce tap wall located inside the food court of the H-Mart supermarket with excellent prices. The surrounding food hall has a variety of options including Korean chicken, curry, and noodle options.
    • Celebrity chef Marcus Samuelsson's restaurant serves casual classics with global influences featuring a sit down dining experience with a menu of casual classic dishes prepared with global influences.
    • This unique hot pot restaurant offers a more distinctive dining experience. The interactive hot pot format makes it perfect for groups, and it's a great way to try something different before settling in for the game.
    • This self service wine bar features 64 wines and 4 beer taps on interactive machines. Pair your tasting with Italian fare ranging from paninis to crafted dishes. It's a unique concept perfect for wine enthusiasts wanting a quieter pregame option.
  • This iconic roadside burger joint is a North Jersey institution. The greasy spoon atmosphere serves up some of the best burgers and hot dogs in the region. It's a pilgrimage spot for burger lovers and a great authentic Jersey experience.
  • This is an authentic Italian bakery and deli famous for coal fire brick oven bread, stuffed breads, cannolis, and cream filled lobster tail pastries. It operates primarily as a bakery and takeout counter with no interior seating.

Tailgating Zones

The area directly outside the stadium gates features several official tailgating and fan activation zones

  • Kids Zone
    Located between the MetLife and Moody gates on the northwest side of the stadium this family-focused interactive zone is designed to let young fans burn off energy before kickoff. The area features a variety of youth football agility drills, skills challenges, obstacle courses, face painting stations, and inflatable games.
  • Bud Light Backyard
    Operating as a pregame social oasis on outside of the Verizon gate on the south side of the stadium, this section is engineered to emulate an elevated backyard tailgate party. It features a stage for live musical performances, oversized competitive lawn games like cornhole, and dedicated walk-up beverage bars.

Monuments & Unique Features

Because MetLife Stadium was built to accommodate two different NFL franchises, its architectural features were designed to achieve absolute aesthetic neutrality. On game day, specific monuments, interactive museums, and structural modifications bring the histories of both teams to life.

  • Outer Skin
    The industrial-gray exterior of the stadium is wrapped in over 50 kilometers of aluminum louvers. Using a massive digital lighting system, the entire outer skin and interior signage glow vibrant green for Jets games and deep blue for Giants games.
  • Digital Displays
    Team history, franchise legends, and past game footage are broadcast on the large digital video boards located at the main entry gates and throughout the concourses during pregame hours.
  • Giants Displays
    • Championship Banners
      During Giants home games, their championship banners honoring their four Super Bowl wins (XXI, XXV, XLII, XLVI) and four pre merger NFL titles (1927, 1934, 1938, and 1956) are displayed along the stadium bowl mezzanine fascia and corner wall facades. These banners are covered or removed for non Giants events.
    • Ring of Honor & Retired Numbers
      The nameplates for the 50 Ring of Honor members and 13 retired jersey numbers (representing 14 different players) are displayed along the interior mezzanine fascia, which is the stadium bowl's middle deck wall.
  • Jets Displays
    • Championship Display
      The Jets do not use permanent or temporary fabric championship banners hanging from the upper deck corners. The commemoration of their 1968 Super Bowl III championship is handled electronically, appearing on the 360-degree LED fascia ribbon board and the four cornerstone video boards throughout the game.
    • Ring of Honor
      For Jets home games, physical fabric wall wraps and vinyl graphics featuring the 22 Ring of Honor names are unrolled and attached directly to the field-level walls located directly behind the player benches and end zones.
    • Retired Numbers
      The team's retired numbers are displayed 360-degree LED ribbon board. The 5 Jets retired numbers are 12- Joe Namath, 13 - Don Maynard, 28 - Curtis Martin, 73 - Joe Klecko, and 90 - Dennis Byrd
  • The New York Football Giants Legacy Club
    Located on the 100-level concourse near Section 144 (directly above the MetLife Gate), this interactive museum is open to all ticket holders from gate opening through halftime on Giants game days. It houses historic game jerseys, equipment, player busts, and the franchise's four Vince Lombardi Trophies.

Seating & Special Sections

MetLife Stadium offers a variety of premium seating options across multiple levels, with approximately 10,005 club seats and 218 luxury suites making it one of the NFL's most premium-heavy venues.

  • Moody's Commissioners Club
    The most prestigious and exclusive space in the stadium, located at the 50-yard line on the lower level. Access is strictly limited to guests holding tickets for Commissioner’s Club Suites. This luxury private club offers an all-inclusive experience featuring chef driven menus and high end service paired with an intimate view of the game.
  • EY Coaches Club
    Located at midfield on the East sideline (Sections 111C–115C) directly behind the home team’s bench. This premium club provides ticket holders with oversized, padded seats and exclusive field level access to a private patio right behind the players. Fans can watch warmups and team introductions from just steps away while enjoying all-inclusive upscale food and non-alcoholic beverages inside a private, climate controlled lounge.
  • MetLife 50 Club
    Located at midfield on the West sideline (specifically Section 139), right behind the visiting team's bench, it is the visitors' side mirror to the Coaches Club. It grants ticket holders access to a private field-level patio directly behind the opposing team's sideline, complete with all-inclusive high-end food and non-alcoholic beverages inside its lounge.
  • Luxury Suites
    There are three different levels of Luxury Suites at the stadium
    • Suite Level 3 (President's Circle Suites)
      Positioned directly above the lower 100-level bowl along both sidelines. These premium boxes accommodate 18–30 guests and feature private outdoor seating patios equipped with overhead heat lamps
    • Suite Level 5 (Five Star Suites)
      Located directly above the 200 Mezzanine Level, providing a panoramic, middle-of-the-stadium viewpoint. Suite guests on this level also receive walk-out access to the main Mezzanine club lounges.
    • Suite Level 6 (Gold Plus Rewards Suites)
      The highest and most private suite deck, positioned just below the upper 300-level seating bowl. These suites feature fully climate-controlled, indoor-only seating with large glass windows that can be opened or closed depending on the weather.
  • Club Seats
    The stadium features over 10,000 traditional club seats located on the second tier of the stadium providing padded seating, extra legroom, and entrance to upscale indoor lounges.

    If you are looking for a more extensive selection of localized craft brews and a wide array of drafts, the dedicated Craft Beer Zones can be found at sections 146 and 323
  • Concourse Social Lounges
