Robert W. Plaster Stadium
A Guide to Robert W. Plaster Stadium
Robert W. Plaster Stadium is Missouri State football’s compact 17,500-seat home in the center of its Springfield campus. The field sits tight against the west grandstand, the student side rises to The Clif party platform and a north berm opens toward BearFest Village. Built for walking and renewed for the Bears’ move to FBS, the venue offers an approachable urban-campus game day with fans close to every play.
Getting to Robert W. Plaster Stadium
The stadium is at 1015 East Grand Street, Springfield, Missouri 65897, between Grand Street and the heart of campus. U.S. 60, U.S. 65 and Interstate 44 are the regional approaches. National Avenue borders campus to the east, while Kimbrough Avenue and Holland Avenue carry traffic from downtown. Police may restrict Grand and Carrington near the stadium before kickoff.
Driving & Parking
- Premium single-game lotsRecent game plans have offered Lot 19 and BearPark South for $10 and Lots 18 and 22 for $20 when space remains. Reserve online rather than depending on cash entry.
- Free campus parkingMost campus lots outside residence-life and reserved areas, plus BearPark North garage, remain free on football game days. Read the signs at the actual entrance.
- Season and Bears Fund areasClose spaces require the matching pass and follow specific ingress routes. A general game ticket does not include parking.
- Accessible parkingUse the spaces and route shown on the current football map, display a valid placard or plate and contact the ticket office in advance for an accessible seat.
- Weekday clearanceFor October evening games, lots and BearFest Village may transition from class-day use in midafternoon. Do not occupy a reserved faculty, residence or event space before its published conversion time.
- Postgame flowExpect officers to hold or redirect Grand Street while pedestrians clear. A free outer-campus lot can produce a faster exit than a closer garage.
Public Transit
- City Utilities TransitSpringfield's public bus network serves the Missouri State area, but ordinary routes and evening frequency are not designed as a dedicated football shuttle. Check the actual date and last departure.
- Bear LineThe university's campus shuttle supports student and employee circulation. Football construction or road closures can move stops, and visitors should not assume every route operates after a night game.
- Downtown connectionDowntown Springfield is close enough for a short rideshare, but not every hotel-to-stadium path has convenient direct bus service.
- Remote parking beats a transferFor most visiting fans, driving to a free university lot and walking is simpler than trying to combine regional and campus transit.
Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)
- Missouri State does not consistently publish a dedicated football rideshare zone. Select a legal perimeter curb beyond the Grand Street closure and follow event-staff direction.
- The Plaster Student Union or a public campus garage can be a clearer landmark than an individual gate, provided the driver can legally reach it under the day's traffic plan.
- After the game, walk toward National Avenue, Kimbrough Avenue or another open outer street before requesting. Avoid stopping traffic on Grand.
- For a weekday night game, allow time for surge pricing and competition with downtown demand. Confirm the vehicle and license plate in a well-lit location.
Pregame Festivities
BearFest Village fills the plaza north of the stadium between Strong Hall, McDonald Arena, Carrington Hall and the Forsythe Athletics Center. It opens with the parking lots—often three hours before kickoff—and welcomes everyone with food for purchase, music, sponsor activities and alumni or college tents. Bear Walk occurs about two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff. A pep rally at the Bear Head follows closer to game time, often around 40 minutes before kickoff.
Tailgating
- BearFest VillageThe central lawn-and-plaza scene is the simplest visitor choice. Some organization tents require an invitation or meal ticket, but the village itself is public.
- Designated surface lotsTailgating and alcohol possession are allowed only in approved areas, including BearFest Village and designated lots south of Harrison or Grand under the event plan.
- No garage tailgatingBearPark structures are for parking, not grills, tents or drinking. Move to the village after leaving the vehicle.
- Student Lot 24Student groups reserve free spaces at Grand and National on a first-come basis. A cooler-check service accepts empty coolers for students near the stadium tunnel before entry.
- Stay inside the footprintTents, furniture and games must not block adjacent stalls, sidewalks or fire lanes. Carry out charcoal and secure equipment before entering.
- Weeknight timingA midweek tailgate may not open until late afternoon because classes remain in session. Game-specific instructions override the normal Saturday window.
Pregame Bars & Restaurants
- The original Delmar Street restaurant sits just south of campus and serves pasta, panini and pizza in a neighborhood setting. It is a walkable early meal.
- The Walnut Street sports bar reopened in 2026 after a two-year closure, restoring a longtime Missouri State pregame institution known for wings, televisions and three bars.
- The downtown Walnut Street location specializes in inventive burgers, loaded fries and large shakes, about a mile from campus.
- Springfield Brewing CompanyDowntown's brewpub pairs house beer with a broad American menu and works well for a Friday-night gathering or early lunch.
- This Rountree-neighborhood brewery east of campus offers a relaxed patio and rotating food-truck environment; verify that food is on site before arriving hungry.
