A Guide to Spectrum Center

Spectrum Center is the vibrant centerpiece of Charlotte’s Uptown district, serving as the iconic home of the NBA's Charlotte Hornets. Fresh off a massive $245 million "Reimagine Spectrum Center" renovation completed for the 2026 season, the arena boasts completely upgraded fan concourses, newly designed premium social districts, and a brand-new entrance optimizing public transit arrivals. Blending the team's culturally legendary teal-and-purple identity with state-of-the-art venue amenities, it delivers one of the most energetic and walkable game-night experiences in professional sports.

Getting to the Arena

  • Driving & Parking
To drive to the Spectrum Center, exit Interstate 77 at Exit 10 (Trade Street) and head east, or take the Trade Street exit directly from the Interstate 277 inner loop, continuing down Trade Street until you reach the arena intersection at Caldwell Street. Because the venue itself does not feature an on-site public parking structure, accommodation relies entirely on roughly 30,000 surrounding off-street parking spaces located within a short 15-minute walk. The closest multi-level facilities are the Center City Green Parking Deck (350 E. 6th St.) and the 200 N. College Street Garage (also accessed via 237 E. 5th St.), both providing covered, highly secure parking just a one-minute walk from the arena doors. For those seeking surface accommodations, various open-air parking lots are situated just blocks away along North Caldwell, North Brevard, and East 4th Streets. It is highly recommended to pre-purchase a guaranteed, cashless spot via digital platforms like SpotHero or ParkMobile to secure optimal pricing and streamline your entry on game day.
  • Public Transit
The LYNX Blue Line light rail serves the Charlotte Transportation Center and the 3rd Street/Convention Center station, both within walking distance. From South End, NoDa, and other neighborhoods along the line, the LYNX is the easiest option.
    • LYNX Light Rail
For rapid rail transport directly to the arena doors, the LYNX Blue Line Light Rail (Route 501) runs directly alongside the stadium and services the CTC/Arena Station every 15 to 30 minutes, cleanly linking fans from I-485/South Boulevard in the south up to the UNC Charlotte Main Station in the north.
    • CityLYNX Gold Line Streetcar
Additionally, fans traveling east-west across the city center can ride the CityLYNX Gold Line Streetcar, an urban tram system that drops passengers off right at the joint CTC/Arena platform on East Trade Street. Both rail options drop off right next to the newly integrated transit entrance on the arena's concourse level.
    • Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS)
For local bus commuters, the stadium sits directly adjacent to the Charlotte Transportation Center (CTC), the master hub for the Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS). A wide array of standard local routes arrive continuously throughout game nights, including Line 1 (Mount Holly/Paw Creek), Line 4 (Belmont), Line 6 (Kings Drive), Line 7 (Beatties Ford), Line 8 (Statesville), Line 9 (Central Avenue), Line 10 (West Boulevard), Line 11 (North Tryon), Line 14 (Providence Road), Line 15 (Randolph Road), Line 16 (South Tryon), Line 17 (Central Piedmont Community College), Line 19 (Park Road), Line 21 (Statesville Avenue), Line 22 (Graham Street), Line 23 (Shamrock Drive), Line 26 (Oaklawn), Line 27 (Monroe Road), Line 34 (Freedom Drive), and Line 35 (Wilkinson Boulevard).
  • Rideshare
The primary, officially designated rideshare drop-off and pick-up zones are located along the curbsides of East 5th Street and North Caldwell Street, lining the northeastern perimeter of the building.
