HomeAway (“we,” “our,” or “us”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our mobile application and related services (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
Age Requirements
The App is intended for users aged 13 and older. If you are between 13 and 17 years old, you may only use the App with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have done so, we will delete that data promptly.
Information We Collect
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and password. You may also provide a display name, username, bio, and profile photo.
- Location Data: When using stadium check-ins, nearby stadium discovery, or other location-based features, we collect and process approximate or precise location data. Location data is only collected while the App is actively in use and only with your explicit permission. We do not track your location in the background.
- Device Information: We may collect device identifiers, operating system version, app version, and app performance information for analytics, diagnostics, and security purposes.
- Push Notification Tokens: If you grant notification permissions, we collect a device-specific push notification token to deliver notifications to your device. This token is stored securely and is associated with your account. You can revoke notification permissions at any time through your device settings.
- Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, including features used, pages visited, and in-app activity such as fantasy sports participation. No real money or gambling is involved in any App feature.
- User Generated Content: The App allows you to create and share content, including:
- Scorecards – records of stadium visits, including ratings, notes, and photos
- Messages – direct messages and group chat messages within clubs
- Club Content – clubs you create or join, including club names, descriptions and settings
- Trips – trip plans and itineraries you create
- Fantasy Entries – contest entries, lineups and league participation
- Meets – meetup events you create or join
- Friend Connections – friend requests and your friends list
- This content is stored on our servers and may be visible to other users of the App depending on the feature and your privacy settings.
- On-Device Storage: We store certain preferences and session data locally on your device (using AsyncStorage on mobile devices and browser localStorage/sessionStorage on web) to improve your experience. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless it is part of a feature that syncs with your account.
- Online Presence: The App tracks whether you are currently online or offline to display your availability status to friends and club members. This information is stored temporarily and updated in real time. This feature can be toggled ‘Off’ in Settings.
- Optional Marketing Information: If you choose to subscribe, we collect your consent to receive promotional messages and updates via email.
How We Use Your Information
- Operate, maintain, and improve the App
- Provide personalized in-app experiences, including location-based stadium discovery
- Verify your eligibility and prevent fraudulent activity
- Deliver push notifications about account activity, social interactions, and App updates

Permissions We Request
The App may request the following device permissions. Each is optional and prompted only when relevant:

On the web version of the App, we use browser localStorage and sessionStorage for session management and user preferences. We also use Google reCAPTCHA v3 for security verification, which may set cookies on your device. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies currently, but we will in the future, at which time this policy will be updated and documented accordingly.
On mobile (Android and iOS), we use on-device storage (AsyncStorage) for similar purposes. No cookies are used on mobile at this time, but we will in the future, at which this time this policy will be updated and documented accordingly.

Data Security

All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted in transit using TLS/HTTPS. Data at rest in our cloud infrastructure is encrypted using industry-standard methods provided by Google Cloud Platform. While no system is completely secure, we continuously review and improve our security measures
Data Retention
We retain personal information only as long as necessary to provide the App’s services, comply with legal obligations, or resolve disputes. Specifically:
- Account data: is retained for the life of your account
- User-generated content (scorecards, messages, trips) is retained until you delete it or delete your account
- Push notification tokens: are updated when you login or removed when you log out or revoke permissionso
- Presence data: (online/offline status) is temporary and not permanently stored
When information is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or anonymized.
Account Deletion
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email address below. Upon receiving a verified deletion request, we will:
- Delete your account credentials and profile information
- Delete your user-generated content (scorecards, messages, trips, fantasy entries, club memberships)
- Remove your push notification tokens
- Remove your data from leaderboards and friend lists
Deletion will be completed within 30 days of the request. Some data may be retained for a limited period if required by law or to resolve disputes.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will revise the “Effective Date” above. Continued use of the App after changes means you accept the updated Policy.
